Salto NCoder.

The NCoder is the desktop encoder that writes Salto credentials: the small device at the front desk or back office that programs a guest keycard, a resident fob, or a staff card. It encodes MIFARE and DESFire RFID credentials (with Bluetooth LE support), connecting over USB and Ethernet for Salto Space or over BLUEnet for Salto Homelok, so the encoder matches the platform the property runs. It is the everyday tool of a card operation: check-in cuts a key, lost cards get reissued, and staff credentials are programmed on the spot. One or more sit wherever credentials are issued, so the count follows the number of encoding stations, not the doors. When the property management system drives check-in, the encoder works hand in hand with that integration so a card is cut the moment a reservation is assigned, with no manual lookup. Busy front desks usually run more than one so arriving guests are never waiting on a single shared device, and a back-office unit handles bulk programming for staff onboarding and re-keys.

Integrations
NCoder connects to hotel PMS, guest-journey, and check-in platforms through Salto’s integration ecosystem, which is extensive and updated frequently. Rather than freeze a partial list, we point you to Salto’s own directory for the current set.
The encoder is driven by the Salto management software (Space ProAccess or Homelok); PMS-driven check-in encoding runs through that platform.

Where NCoder fits, and where it doesn’t
Best for
- Front-desk key cutting and reissue at check-in
- Programming resident fobs and staff cards in the office
- Matching the platform: Space (USB + Ethernet) or Homelok (BLUEnet)
Not ideal for
- Mixing platforms (Space and Homelok encoders are not interchangeable)
- Mobile-only operations that issue no physical credentials
- Field or outdoor use (it is a desktop device)

Things to think about
Order it to your platform
The NCoder comes in a Salto Space version (USB and Ethernet) and a Homelok version (BLUEnet). They are not interchangeable, so confirm which platform the property runs before ordering, and place one at each station where credentials are issued.

NCoder: frequently asked
Is the Salto XS4 One good for high-traffic hotel doors?
Yes. XS4 One is a full ANSI mortise lock built for high-cycle guest-room and corridor doors. It runs roughly 60,000 openings per battery set, typically 24 to 36 months of service at hotel traffic. For very high-traffic main entrances it remains the right Salto choice over the compact XS4 Mini.
What is the difference between XS4 One and XS4 Mini?
They share the same credential stack (BLE, NFC, RFID, PIN), the same PMS integrations, and the same brand mobile-key compliance. XS4 One is a full mortise lock suited to high-traffic doors; XS4 Mini is a compact, indoor, lower-cost escutcheon best for value-tier and extended-stay rooms. When brand standards are silent and the door is high-traffic, XS4 One is the safer call.
Does XS4 One support Apple Wallet keys?
Yes. With 2024 firmware, XS4 One supports Apple Wallet room keys alongside BLE and NFC mobile credentials. RevKey confirms the exact firmware and brand mobile-key program your property is certified to before the order ships.
Can XS4 One be retrofitted onto existing doors?
On most doors with ANSI standard mortise prep, XS4 One drops in without millwork changes. If the door prep cannot be modified (occupied units, historic doors, custom millwork), a Neo cylinder swap is usually the better retrofit even though XS4 One is the stronger lock.
