Salto XS4 Sense.

XS4 Sense is Salto's in-room sensing and energy-control family, the part of the system that lets the door make the room smarter. A wire-free, battery-powered multisensor (a passive-infrared occupancy and environment sensor) and door/window sensors report whether a room is occupied and whether it is open to the outside, all over the BLUEnet wireless network. The XS4 Sense Controller acts on that: with two built-in relays and universal 110-230V voltage, it switches AC and lighting lines so an empty or open room stops conditioning itself, connecting back through the in-room node. Together with the lock and the inRoomNode, XS4 Sense turns check-in and occupancy into automatic energy savings without wiring a separate building-automation system into every guest room. For a hotel chasing sustainability targets or simply trimming utility spend, that means an unsold or vacated room is not heating and cooling an empty space, and a guest who props a balcony door does not run the air conditioning against the outdoors. Because the sensors are wireless and battery-powered, the family retrofits into existing rooms without opening walls.

Integrations
XS4 Sense connects to hotel PMS, guest-journey, and check-in platforms through Salto’s integration ecosystem, which is extensive and updated frequently. Rather than freeze a partial list, we point you to Salto’s own directory for the current set.
XS4 Sense works with the room lock and the inRoomNode on Salto Space; energy logic runs in the Sense Controller, not through PMS.

Where XS4 Sense fits, and where it doesn’t
Best for
- Guest-room energy saving driven by occupancy and check-in state
- Pausing HVAC and lighting when a room is empty or open to the outside
- Hotels wanting energy control from the door without a separate building-automation system
Not ideal for
- Properties not running Salto Space with BLUEnet and the inRoomNode
- Access-control-only projects with no energy-management goal
- Outdoor or non-room sensing applications

Things to think about
Energy savings from the door, not a separate BMS
XS4 Sense uses the lock, occupancy, and door state to switch conditioning and lighting, so a room stops wasting energy when it is empty or left open. It rides the BLUEnet network and the inRoomNode rather than requiring a separate building-automation system wired to every room.

XS4 Sense: frequently asked
Is the Salto XS4 One good for high-traffic hotel doors?
Yes. XS4 One is a full ANSI mortise lock built for high-cycle guest-room and corridor doors. It runs roughly 60,000 openings per battery set, typically 24 to 36 months of service at hotel traffic. For very high-traffic main entrances it remains the right Salto choice over the compact XS4 Mini.
What is the difference between XS4 One and XS4 Mini?
They share the same credential stack (BLE, NFC, RFID, PIN), the same PMS integrations, and the same brand mobile-key compliance. XS4 One is a full mortise lock suited to high-traffic doors; XS4 Mini is a compact, indoor, lower-cost escutcheon best for value-tier and extended-stay rooms. When brand standards are silent and the door is high-traffic, XS4 One is the safer call.
Does XS4 One support Apple Wallet keys?
Yes. With 2024 firmware, XS4 One supports Apple Wallet room keys alongside BLE and NFC mobile credentials. RevKey confirms the exact firmware and brand mobile-key program your property is certified to before the order ships.
Can XS4 One be retrofitted onto existing doors?
On most doors with ANSI standard mortise prep, XS4 One drops in without millwork changes. If the door prep cannot be modified (occupied units, historic doors, custom millwork), a Neo cylinder swap is usually the better retrofit even though XS4 One is the stronger lock.
