Classic VingCard is winding down while ASSA ABLOY moves customers toward Vostio. You have a clean platform option, too.
Replace VingCard locks in San Francisco.
RevKey is a Certified Salto Partner and veteran-owned business that plans and installs Salto for VingCard properties in San Francisco, migrating you off VingCard floor by floor without pulling rooms out of inventory.
For a San Francisco property on Classic VingCard, modernization is the lens, not a security alarm. ASSA ABLOY is moving the market toward its Vostio cloud platform with cloud-first newer hardware, positioning Classic VingCard as a bridge toward wallet-ready access. With Moscone bookings up 64% in room nights for 2025 and occupancy rebounding toward 65.2%, the local realities are historic Victorian and Edwardian doors and union labor coordination on most jobs, both of which reward a deliberate cutover. Operators can modernize in-family to Vostio cloud or move to Salto Space, which also supports native Apple Wallet keys; this page is the Salto route.
- Moscone Center-driven hotel bookings were projected to rise 64% in 2025 to nearly 657,000 room nights, up from about 400,000 the prior year, concentrating occupancy into event windows.
- San Francisco hotel occupancy was expected to reach about 65.2% in 2025, up 3.7 percentage points year over year as the market led the national recovery.

What we plan for in San Francisco
Many San Francisco boutique and luxury properties occupy converted Victorian and Edwardian buildings where original mortise doors, irregular stiles, and out-of-square frames complicate prep type assessment. RevKey performs a door-by-door survey before ordering so the correct Salto prep, escutcheons, and any shimming or filler plates are confirmed for each opening rather than assumed from a building age or floor plan.
Most Union Square and Financial District properties operate under union labor norms, and access-control work often has to be sequenced alongside in-house engineering and represented trades. RevKey coordinates its deployed crew with property labor requirements and schedules cutover work to respect on-site trade jurisdiction so installation proceeds without work stoppages.
The VingCard migration, in brief
VingCard line owned by ASSA ABLOY. Classic VingCard hardware is largely legacy; the modern path is ASSA ABLOY's Vostio and Visionline management platforms running current VingCard locks.
Wide Body trim covers existing VingCard door prep on retrofit. Modern credential stack and brand mobile-key support.

How a San Francisco project runs
The same disciplined sequence on every property, scaled to your door count.
Site assessment and door-by-door survey
We walk the property (or review your survey worksheet), confirm door prep and brand requirements, and identify what each opening needs. No guesswork before the quote.
Scope and migration plan
A real scoped quote: hardware, credential plan, PMS integration, and a phased schedule built around your occupancy, not a placeholder estimate.
Phased install
Floor-by-floor cutover coordinated with housekeeping, so rooms stay sellable. No property-wide shutdown.
PMS and mobile-key validation
PMS integration and brand mobile keys configured and tested before guests touch them, so the front desk is live on day one.
Train and support
Front-desk training and a fixed post-install support window so the team is confident before we hand off.
Common questions about VingCard migrations in San Francisco
Should I move to ASSA ABLOY Vostio or to Salto?
Both are legitimate. Vostio is the in-family upgrade from Classic VingCard and is the easier move if you have a strong ASSA ABLOY relationship and want minimum operational change. Salto tends to be the stronger choice if you value mobile-key depth, broad PMS integration, and a single accountable installer. We are glad to scope either; this page covers the Salto path.
Is my Classic VingCard hardware compatible with a Salto retrofit?
In most cases, yes. Salto XS4 One is ANSI mortise compatible and replaces Classic VingCard hardware at the door without changing the prep. We confirm prep type door by door during scoping.
Do I have to replace every door at once?
No. We install door by door during normal operating hours, typically thirty to forty doors per day, with a first-door sign-off before mass install. Larger properties run phased over weeks.
How long does a VingCard migration take?
Scoping plus phased install runs roughly 3 to 5 weeks under 100 doors and 6 to 10 weeks for 100 to 250 doors, with larger properties phased over longer windows. Materials procurement is dated for you when we quote.
What do residents or guests use instead of a keycard?
Modern BLE and NFC mobile credentials, including Apple Wallet, with PIN-pad or physical-card fallback for guests and contractors. One credential system spans guest rooms and amenity access.
How long does a Salto rollout take for a Union Square hotel?
Timelines depend on door count and occupancy, but a typical full-service property runs in the range of a couple of weeks to several weeks of on-site work. RevKey phases the work floor by floor so no floor is fully closed, and we sequence cutover around your convention blocks and group business rather than a fixed calendar date.
